The Center for Digital Government has honored Virginia's official stimulus reporting site www.stimulus.virginia.gov with a 2009 Digital Government Achievement Award in the Government-to-Citizen category. The site was created to comply with requirements of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and to allow citizen input into selection of projects for requested funds and transparency of actual funded projects. Between the launch of the Web site on Feb. 10 and the deadline for submissions on March 6, more than 9,000 project proposals were submitted by citizens through the Web site. It was created using the Commonwealth's enterprise business intelligence tool by staff from the Governor's office, State Comptroller, Depts. of Planning and Budget, Accounts and VITA's Enterprise Applications Division, known at the time as the Virginia Enterprise Applications Program. According to the Center, the Digital Government Achievement Awards showcase progressive and innovative Web sites and digital applications by government entities worldwide.
